The QHY QFocuser is an electronic focuser designed with motorized fine focus control and is offered in Standard and High Precision versions.
The Standard version comes with a reducing motor that is capable of carrying up to 10 kg. The High Precision version of the QHY QFocuser offers a non-reducing motor that has the ability to manually control focus after install, but has a slightly lower load capacity than the Standard Version. The Standard version is designed to be installed on the side of the standard adjustment axis of the telescope focusing mechanism. This is similar with most focusers available in the market.
The High Precision version is installed on the other side – the precise adjustment axis of the telescope focusing mechanism. And thanks to its non-reducing motor (no mechanical reduction gears), it can be manually adjusted even after installation on the telescope, without the need for a power connector or a clutch switch. The non-reducing motor on the High Precision allows the entire system to achieve almost zero backlash. Backlash calculations involve the entire focusing system, including the focus motor mount, not just the electronic focuser itself. Backlash will exist if there are mechanical gears in the focusing system.
Different from the traditional square design of electronic focusers, the QHY QFocuser incorporates curves into its body, adding a unique touch to its design. The elegant and super compact QFocuser weighs just 265g (210g for the Standard version) with a body size of only 43x39x50mm. It is suitable for ultra-light weight systems and perfect for traveling astronomers and astrophotographers requiring a high degree of accuracy.
The QFocuser can be powered by a USB Type-C 5V connection or12V DC. An external temperature sensor is included for those who require temperature monitoring. It features several holes on its bottom and side, providing a variety of attachment options and adopts a flexible structure where the fixed holes position and mounting plate height can be freely adjusted to achieve the best compatibility with your telescope.
The QFocuser supports both Windows (with ASCOM drivers) and Linux systems. In the ASCOM driver, QHY has integrated basic functions such as move, custom current position, limit switches, torque maintenance, and temperature display, etc. The focuser can also be controlled through other third-party software.
