The Pegasus Astro DewMaster 2 Controller is a state-of-the-art dew heater management system designed to provide precise control over optics’ temperature regulation. With its smart automation, multiple output channels, and environmental monitoring capabilities, the Pegasus Astro DewMaster 2 Controller is an essential tool for astronomers and astrophotographers.
As the successor to the original Pegasus Astro DewMaster, this advanced device introduces intelligent, automated dew prevention by actively monitoring environmental conditions and adjusting heater power accordingly. Featuring five independent PWM-controlled output channels, the DewMaster 2 allows users to connect multiple dew heater strips, ensuring telescopes, eyepieces, and cameras remain free from moisture and condensation during long imaging sessions. Each channel is capable of delivering up to 6 amps of power.
The Pegasus Astro DewMaster 2 Controller offers an integrated environmental sensor, which continuously measures ambient temperature, humidity, and dew point. This data is used to automatically regulate the heater power, ensuring efficient energy use while maintaining clear optics. The auto-adjust feature intelligently determines the minimum required heating level, reducing unnecessary power consumption and preventing overuse that could degrade image quality.
Additionally, the controller supports two auxiliary temperature probes, allowing users to monitor the temperature of specific optical components such as mirrors, lenses, or camera sensors, further enhancing dew prevention strategies.
For ease of use, the DewMaster 2 is equipped with a high-contrast 2.1-inch red OLED display, providing clear, real-time readouts of all essential parameters. The intuitive user interface allows for quick manual adjustments, while the USB-C connectivity and Wi-Fi integration enable remote operation. The controller supports both Wi-Fi Hotspot and Client modes, allowing users to access its web-based dashboard from a smartphone, tablet, or computer, making adjustments seamless and accessible from any location. This level of connectivity is particularly useful for remotely operated observatories and astrophotography rigs, where automation and remote monitoring are essential.
The hardware design of the DewMaster 2 is both robust and practical. Constructed from high-quality materials, it is lightweight yet durable, ensuring it can withstand harsh outdoor conditions. The compact form factor allows for easy integration into existing setups, and the inclusion of a standard 3 x M3 mounting hole pattern ensures compatibility with Pegasus Astro’s PEG-SHOE attachment for secure mounting. Power is supplied via a 12V DC input, making it compatible with most astronomy power distribution setups.
