The Sky-Watcher Heliostar 76Ha Solar Telescope is a dedicated 76mm hydrogen-alpha (Hα) telescope with <0.55Å bandpass, featuring Solis Etalon Technology, a Trifid Tuner, dual-speed Crayford focuser, and an 11.5mm blocking filter, designed for high-resolution solar observing.

In the video below, the folks at High Point Scientific provide a nice overview of this new, exciting option for hydrogen-alpha solar imaging and observation.

Highlights of the The Sky-Watcher Heliostar 76Ha Solar Telescope

Sky-Watcher Heliostar 76With a 76mm aperture and a 630mm focal length (f/8.3), it delivers high-resolution views of solar phenomena such as prominences, sunspots, plage regions, surface granulation, and filaments. Utilizing Sky-Watcher’s Solis Etalon Technology, the Heliostar achieves a narrow <0.55Å bandpass without requiring double-stacking, offering enhanced surface detail at a more accessible price point. The integrated Trifid Tuner allows users to precisely adjust the etalon for optimal performance.

Safety is a priority with the Heliostar 76Ha, as each unit is individually tested to meet ISO 12312-2 standards, ensuring secure solar viewing. The telescope is equipped with a dual-speed 2-inch Crayford focuser, an 11.5mm blocking filter housed in a 1.25-inch diagonal, and a 20mm 70° eyepiece for comfortable viewing.

Additional features include a clip-on sunshade, a dedicated solar finder, and a smartphone adapter for capturing solar images. For added convenience, the telescope comes with a hard-shell carrying case, making it portable and easy to transport. Weighing 8.4 lbs., the Sky-Watcher Heliostar 76Ha is a robust and versatile instrument, ideal for enthusiasts looking to explore the Sun’s dynamic features in stunning detail.
