Pegasus Astro NYX-88

The Pegasus Astro NYX-88 is a compact, lightweight harmonic drive mount designed for astrophotographers and astronomers seeking a portable harmonic mount with high-performance, precision tracking, high payload capacity and compact design.

Pegasus Astro NYX-88As a smaller sibling to the Pegasus Astro NYX-101, this mount retains many of the same advanced features while offering a more travel-friendly form factor. Weighing only 5 kg (11 lbs.), it offers a 14 kg (30.9 lbs.) payload capacity without requiring counterweights, making it ideal for grab-and-go setups. Its strain wave drive system on both the RA and DEC axes provides backlash-free operation, ensuring smooth and precise tracking even under heavy loads. Combining a stepper motor and belt drive with sophisticated electronics, the RA axis achieves 0.15 arcseconds of resolution, offering low periodic error for smooth and stable tracking down to sub arcsecond accuracy.

Built from CNC-machined aluminum alloy 6061, the Pegasus Astro NYX-88 is engineered for durability and stability and its compact design is designed for transport. It features an electronic brake on the RA axis, preventing unwanted backsliding when powered off. The mount is versatile, supporting both equatorial and alt-azimuth configurations, making it suitable for deep-sky imaging, planetary observations and general stargazing.

Its integrated wireless, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity allow for seamless remote operation and it is fully compatible with ASCOM, INDI, and LX200 protocols, ensuring smooth integration with popular astrophotography software. The NYX-88 comes equipped with an integrated web server that seamlessly communicates with ASCOM Alpaca clients natively. This integration enhances the user experience by providing easy and driverless access to mount control through ASCOM Alpaca. Modern imaging software like N.I.N.A. automatically identifies native Alpaca devices and lists them for immediate use.

The Pegasus Astro NYX-88 mount requires only 12V for smooth operation, allowing you to use a standard 12V battery without additional converters. The mount consumes less than 0.6 amps during tracking and up to 2 amps during slewing. An extra DC (GX-12) output on the side of the mount provides up to 8A to your equipment. An ST-4 port is available, compatible with Pegasus Astro’s dedicated NYX hand controller or an ST-4 guiding camera. The NYX mount has been designed with reverse voltage polarity protection in case you accidentally reverse voltage or battery polarity during the night.
