It’s time to start making plans for NEAF/NEAIC 2025! The two events will again be held at Suffern, New York just a short 30-minute drive from New York City.
NEAIC
The Northeast Astro-imaging Conference (NEAIC) will kick things off on April 7 – 8, 2025. This year the event will follow NEAF on Monday and Tuesday instead of its traditional Thursday/Friday schedule. We are excited about the change! A full weekend of NEAF and then dive deep into astro imaging!
NEAIC offers two full days of seminars and displays of interest to those just getting started in astroimaging, as well as to the most seasoned professional. There are 28 talks with 15 presenters as well as classes and workshops that are tailored to cover all aspects of astronomical imaging.
The event features leaders and acknowledged experts who will share their expertise in extra solar planets, variable stars, minor planets, asteroids, comets, supernova research and more. Speakers include Warren Keller, Richard Wright, Wolfgang Promper, Alex Gorbachev, Dr. Brian Kloppenborg, Ron Brecher, Dale Ghent, John Talbot, John O’Neal and more (yes, many of these you’ll recognize from their articles in Astronomy Technology Today!).
Representatives of all the top imaging-product manufacturers will also be on hand to show off the latest equipment and to share their expertise in person. Registered attendees receive entrance to all NEAIC daytime activities, continental breakfast and lunch both days and a two-day pass to NEAF 2025.
With attendance expected to be well over 200, you’ll meet and engage with astroimagers from all over the world. The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Conference Center in Suffern, NY. Registration and complete information about the event can be found here.
NEAF
The mecca of amateur astronomy, NEAF provides an opportunity for thousands of people to visit with over 120 vendors (over 90,000 square feet of telescope Nirvana!) who will be on hand to share their products, advice and personal assistance on April 5 – 6, 2025. The two-day event will also include seminars, workshops, kid’s events, beginner sessions, door prizes, raffles and much, much more. The Northeast Pro/Am Conference (NPAC) also takes place at NEAF bringing together professionals and advanced amateurs in real research collaborations.
The kid in all of us will enjoy the NEAF kids programming which provides an opportunity for kids to enjoy a number of activities including two planetarium shows running all day long both days. There will also be STEM education workshops for teachers and educators.
Solar viewing will allow attendees to safely see sunspots, solar flares and prominences through specialized solar telescopes. There will also be the opportunity to discuss the Sun and equipment with the NEAF solar team featuring the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project.
Those new to amateur astronomy will have the chance to learn all about telescopes and how to select the type of telescope best for them. There will be Astronomy 101 classes to learn the basics of astronomy and stargazing.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to watch and have hands on experience with telescope mirror making in activities hosted by the Springfield Telescope Makers who will also be available to discuss the latest news and information regarding STELLAFANE and their upcoming convention.
Special rates for NEAF attendees and exhibitors are available at the Crowne Plaza, (NEAIC location and closest to NEAF) and there are plenty of other area hotels to choose from.
