MLAstro Spectroheliograph

The MLAstro Spectroheliograph is a new, advanced solar imaging device designed to capture high-contrast, narrowband images of the Sun across various wavelengths. By utilizing spectral analysis, it enables detailed observations of solar phenomena such as prominences, filaments, and sunspots.

MLAstro SpectroheliographThe MLAstro Spectroheliograph works by combining principles of spectroscopy and imaging to produce high-contrast, narrowband images of the Sun at specific wavelengths, such as H-alpha, Calcium-K, and Sodium-D lines. Unlike traditional solar filters, which directly transmit narrowband light, the SHG systematically scans the Sun’s spectrum and reconstructs an image.

Highlights of the MLAstro Spectroheliograph (SHG) include:

– Ultra-Narrow Bandpass: The SHG achieves a Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) of 0.3 Ångströms, providing exceptional contrast and detail in solar imaging.

– Uniform Field of View: Engineered for consistent performance, it ensures uniformity across the entire field of view, eliminating issues like the “sweet spot” effect found in some traditional filters.

– Multi-Wavelength Observation: The device allows users to observe the Sun in multiple wavelengths, including H-alpha, Calcium K, and Sodium D lines, offering a comprehensive view of solar activity.

– The MLAstro SHG features a CNC-milled aluminum housing, ensuring durability and precise alignment of optical components. It incorporates high-quality optics, including a lithographically generated quartz slit, which enhances performance and longevity.
