The Sharpstar SQA55 Quintuplet Refractor is a Petzval designed f/4.8, 256 mm focal length telescope which offers an interchangeable lens/scope design, a dual-speed helical focuser and an aperture adjustment wheel.
The Petzval design offers an optical system that is exceptionally well corrected and provides very fast focal ratios which means the telescope is well suited for imaging and visual observing. It offers air-spaced optical elements, including one SD glass piece and one ED glass piece. The Petzval design eliminates the need for calculating backspace or an external field flattener.
With the variable aperture lens, the Sharpstar SQA55 Quintuplet Refractor provides the ability to adjust the aperture between f/4.8 to f/22. The helical focuser offers two independent coarse and fine adjustment speeds. The dual-rotator design offers the ability to rotate the entire OTA body for daytime imaging and the high-precision rotator can be utilized for astrophotography applications. For using filters there is the option of 2” filter threads to the rear and M67 filter threads to the front of the objective. The package also includes a standard Vixen-style 200mm dovetail plate.
