The Sky-Watcher Wave Strainwave Mount series expands the company’s mount lineup with two new harmonic strainwave gear mounts – the Wave 100i Strainwave Mount and the Wave 150i Strainwave Mount. The unique design of the Wave mounts offers zero backlash and accurate GoTo. Functionality includes dual AZ/EQ tracking modes, integrated Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and 10 degrees per second slewing.
The new mounts offer the latest in astronomy centric strainwave gear technology, with high torque for large payloads within an ultra- lightweight, efficient package. The Wave 100i weighs just 9.5 lbs (4.3 kg) with a capacity of 22 lbs (10 kg) without the need for a counterweight and, with the Sky-Watcher Wave Counterweight Kit, the payload increases an additional 11 lbs. for a maximum payload capacity of 33 lbs. The Wave 150i weighs just 13lbs with a capacity of 33 lbs without the need for a counterweight and, with the Sky-Watcher Wave Counterweight Kit, the payload increases an additional 22 lbs. for a maximum payload capacity of 55 lbs.
The Sky-Watcher Wave Strainwave Mount series offers built-in cable management as the dovetail incorporates the ST4 guiding port, USB 3.0 port and DC power outputs. The Wave mounts offers controllability through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and there is an option to add a Sky-Watcher SynScan hand controller. And the dual Vixen/Losmandy dovetail saddle expands the mount’s functionality. Sky-Watcher has also introduced a dedicated Wave carbon fiber tripod that weighs in at just 5.3 lbs.
