The new APM 16×80 EDL MS ED Binoculars are among the latest big astronomical binoculars in the in the APM Magnesium Series. The “L” designation represents the fact that these binoculars are longer and heavier, and their focal length helps increase the ability to correct chromatic aberration and field correction.
All APM Magnesium Series binoculars bodies are constructed with lightweight Magnesium. Not only is Magnesium the lightest of the metal elements, it is also extremely strong and is resistant to corrosion. The body of each binocular is fitted with rubber armor, which serves to both protect it from damage while also providing a lightweight, slip-resistant grip. You can easily focus your binoculars by adjusting each eyepiece individually, perfectly matching your own vision.
The hallmark of the APM Magnesium Series is their weatherproof and waterproof design, offering ultimate performance. The entire system received IPX-7 certification for protection against the ingress of water. The glass is completely protected against rain and immersion in water, so it is completely weatherproof. The magnesium housing is very light and yet very robust. A leather armoring is attached to the housing, which further protects the glass and gives a secure grip and hold.
Waterproof and weatherproof Magnesium construction matters little if not matched to optics of equal quality, and here APM’s MS Bino’s high quality, apochromatic optics shine, featuring high-quality ED glass (FK61) and a high-specification BAK-4 Porro-prism optical system for maximum contrast and highest sharpness over the entire field of view. Special coatings on all optical surfaces eliminate residual reflections and ensure lifelike colors. With a pupillary distance of 23mm, the eyepiece construction is very suitable for people who wear glasses. The rubber eyecups can be easily turned inside out for a comfortable fit.
The APM Magnesium Series binocular line is designed to offer an impressive wide field view. The compact, sturdy and easy-to-use design makes these binoculars the ideal field companion for daytime and nighttime use. The fully coated FMC optics and the solid mechanics allow excellent and true color image reproduction.
