The Aline collimation tool from Rigel Systems has been updated to provide additional functionality.
As the Rigel Systems team notes, “Our 2″ Aline now features a black center (3/4″ diameter) in its microprism surround which, paired with our retroreflective “fat” triangle mirror center spot (we beefed up the sides so they are easier to remove from the backing without tearing) provides enhanced, easier collimation – just fit the triangle inside the black center on the 2″ Aline. For night use just shine your astronomer’s flashlight down the tube.”
They also noted, “The Aline Collimation Tool uses an ultra-reflective microprism retroreflector and the light gathered by a telescope to produce a brighter image than can be found with traditional “classical” cheshires or other “reflective” cheshires (which are retroreflector collimation eyepieces — not cheshires) that use less reflective microsphere retroreflectors.”
The Aline collimation tool is offered in 1.25″ and 2″ versions. Enclosed with the tool is a highly reflective mirror center spot 5/8” diameter, to update a mirror center spot for better visibility with the Aline during collimation, especially under low light levels.
