Founder Optics FOT106 Triplet Apo

The Founder Optics FOT106 Triplet Apo is a high performing 3-element ED APO triplet refractor designed in Japan and manufactured by Founder Optics in Tiawan.

Founder Optics FOT106 Triplet ApoFor the FOT106 refractor Founder Optics adopted 2 ED glass lenses of S-FPL 53 and S-FPL 51. In addition to the ED lenses, they incorporate a unique design, as each element is fully separated. With the two fluoro-crown ED glass elements and fully multi-coated optics, the FOT106 provides performance that is crystal clear and superb sharp with zero aberration or distortion. For imaging purposes, in addition to a dedicated field flattener, the FOT106 package includes M42 and M48 adapters.

The Founder Optics FOT106 Triplet Apo hybrid drive system features eight ball bearings for smooth operation. The design incorporates two sets of four ball bearings at 2 sides between the drawtube and the focuser cover which travel linearly. After locking the knob there is no gap among the drawtube, the ball bearings and the focuser cover. This keeps the focuser always paralleled to the optic axis to ensure it operates smoothly.

The Founder Optics FOT106 Triplet Apo includes a 2.7’’ twist lock dual speed focuser that can handle up to 8kg. The smooth focus motion and fine focus wheel allow for precision adjustment for critical focusing of an eyepiece or camera. A unique lock function offers a heavy load capacity as the lock grabs the rack and pinion and the drawtube in two directions. The design makes the focuser always parallel with the optic axis instead of pushing against the drawtube to eliminate focus shift while focused.

The focuser offers a longer traveling distance than many traditional focusers as the 95mm distance provides more room to adjust focus, offering enhanced flexibility for imaging applications. The adaptable rotated structure of the focuser facilitates the ability to have the best position to adjust the focuser when observing or imaging.

The retractable dew shield offers smooth movement in sliding to position and three screws securely hold the dew shield to avoid spinning or movement while imaging. The telescope is crafted with a CNC machined aluminum body and high-gloss anodized finish. And the scope can be safely ensconced for travel in the included aluminum case.
