Joel Short, an astroimaging enthusiast located in Northern Indiana, opened the Buckeyestargazer Shop to make available items he has developed to offer affordable and uncomplicated accessories. As Short comments, “These are simple and practical items that I have found to be essential for amateur astronomers.” New products now available from the Buckeyestargazer Shop include:
Optec Alnitak Flip-Flat Dovetail Bar Mounts
The Optec Alnitak Flip-Flat Flat Fielder is normally secured to a telescope with a large nylon zip tie. This bracket alternative to the zip tie allows the Alnitak Flip-Flat to be clamped onto a Losmandy or Vixen style dovetail bar for easier installation and a more rigid connection.
The brackets are available in the following:
– Alnitak Large LSaddle: For telescopes over 4″ in aperture. Clamps onto a Losmandy/D dovetail bar.
– Alnitak Small LSaddle: For telescopes 4″ and smaller in aperture. Clamps onto a Losmandy/D dovetail bar.
– Alnitak Large VSaddle: For telescopes over 4″ in aperture. Clamps onto a Vixen style dovetail bar.
– Alnitak Small VSaddle: For telescopes 4″ and smaller in aperture. Clamps onto a Vixen style dovetail bar.
GSO Ritchey–Chrétien (RC) Baffle Extensions
Some GSO Ritchey–Chrétien telescopes (and associated branded telescopes) may suffer from aberrant light directly reaching the camera sensor, causing reflections and the inability to take sufficient flat frames. These baffle extensions eliminate this problem.
The new Buckeyestargazer Shop GSO RC Baffle Extensions are currently available for the GSO 6″, 8″, 10″, 12″ and 16″ RC scopes.
As Short notes, “These baffle extensions press fit into the existing baffle and are made from a matte black PETG filament. NOTE: while the internal ridges should reduce light scatter, it maybe necessary to paint the extension with a flat black paint. However, so far customers have reported no internal reflections without paint applied.”
