GSO RC Baffle Extensions are now available from the Buckeyestargazer Shop. Joel Short, an astroimaging enthusiast located in Northern Indiana, opened the Buckeyestargazer Shop to make available items he has developed to offer affordable and uncomplicated accessories. As Short comments, “These are simple and practical items that I have found to be essential for amateur astronomers.”
The new GSO RC Baffle Extensions are currently available for the GSO 6″, 8″, 10″, 12″ and 16″ RC scopes.
As Short notes, “As the It has been documented that the GSO Ritchey–Chrétien telescopes (and associated brands) can sometimes suffer from aberrant light directly reaching the camera sensor, causing reflections and the inability to take sufficient flat frames. To eliminate the possibility of stray light reaching the sensor, I have designed baffle extensions that block this aberrant light.
He continues, “These baffle extensions press fit into the existing baffle and are made from a matte black PETG filament. NOTE: while the internal ridges should reduce light scatter, it maybe necessary to paint the extension with a flat black paint. However, so far customers have reported no internal reflections without paint applied.”
