Lunt Solar Systems New Modular Solar Telescope series provides the ability to enjoy a full range of astronomical observing with only one telescope. Each model is designed to be easily configured between Hydrogen Alpha, White Light, Calcium K, astronomy and daytime terrestrial uses in minutes. The lineup includes the Lunt Solar LS60MT, LS80MT, LS100MT & LS130MT.
Each Modular Solar Telescope model is available in a starter package that comes as an H-alpha telescope that can be converted for nighttime and terrestrial viewing. The way this is achieved is lightly different for each model and is accomplished by a design that provides the ability to quickly remove the H-alpha module and replace it with a backing plate and focuser assembly with an included nighttime or terrestrial diagonal. Additional packages that add additional performance are also available for each model.
Each scope takes advantage of Lunt’s True Doppler Tuning which allows for a shift into and away from the user, adding a 3-D like component to the Solar viewing experience. While this ability has minimal effect on proms due to their location at the edge of the disk, it does have a significant effect on filaments and the active regions on the surface. Also, while looking at a filament at the center of the Sun, the user has the ability to Doppler shift from the base of the filament to the tip and follow the filament through its structure toward and away from the user. Very cool!

LUNT Solar LS60MT Modular Telescope
The LUNT Solar LS60MT is the smallest and most portable of the new line of Lunt’s modular telescopes. You can enjoy this new versatile scope which offers an ED doublet lens in all of the available wavelengths, for a grab and go scope that will deliver excellent views in all its configurations. In addition to excellent Hydrogen Alpha viewing capabilities it provides the option of continuing observation with White Light, Calcium K, astronomy and daytime terrestrial viewing at a 70mm aperture.

The new LS80MT takes one of Lunt’s most popular sized telescopes and making it even more functional. At 80mm Aperture, with a FPL53 Doublet Lens, the LS80MT is a precision aligned ED refractor that is made to excel when viewing the Sun’s active regions or sifting through the stars of the Milky Way. While it provides impressive views, it maintains a size appropriate to carry on a plane while traveling. LUNT Solar LS100MT Modular Telescope
The 100MT is big enough to impress in any configuration and will provide an out of this world Hydrogen Alpha experience, allowing for a <.7 angstrom bandpass in its single stack configuration. With its double stack module installed, it will provide a <.5 angstrom bandpass and allow the Sun’s phenomena to virtually leap off its surface in 3D effect. And with its 100mm aperture and Triplet ED APO Lens (FPL53), it is also a stellar performer in the evening skies.

This is Lunt’s best and biggest telescope offering the ultimate option for Solar or nighttime viewing. The refractor-based system has a precision-aligned triplet ED lens with a 130 mm aperture. For daytime use there are three available blocking filters including the B1200 for visual use; B1800 for larger field of view and imaging applications and the B3400 for larger field of view and imaging applications with larger sensors.
