In this issue we continue our ongoing emphasis on solar observing in advance of the Great Solar Eclipse 2017! This includes our cover article by Austin Grant who demonstrates how the Lunt Solar Systems Calcium K module is an excellent choice for solar viewing and imaging. Also, Editor Gary Parkerson uses a Baadar AstroSolar filter material kit to build an DYI solar filter at a bargain price. Keeping the solar theme going we take a look back at articles from Don Schwab with the Coronado PST, André Van der Elst and Baader’s Solar Filters, and Pierre Stromberg and the Lunt LS60THA. Also, Dr. James R. Dire gets a new travel mount with the Celestron CGEM II and George Stallings writes a guest editorial on the future of amateur astronomy.
